Prof. Dr. Yücel ALTUNBAŞAK has been appointed to the presidency of TÜBİTAK in accordance with the 5th item of the Law Number 278 which is about the foundation of the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey. The Resolution (Number 2011/647) regarding Prof. Dr. ALTUNBAŞAK’s appointment was published in the Official Gazette dated 29 August  2011 and numbered 28040.

Prof. Dr. Yücel ALTUNBAŞAK had been the rector of TOBB University of Economics and Technology since July 2009.
